We are a growing organization seeking to expand the efforts put forth in our mission: maximizing the Brown experience for the Latinx community, serving as a representative voice for Latinx alumni, and assisting in the unification of alumni efforts to further and support the interests of Brown University. If you are interested in having a more active voice, consider serving on BULAC’s National Board!

Open Positions & Responsibilities
All positions start July 2024 through June 30, 2026. You will find a list below of the open positions followed by detailed descriptions of each position. Note time and travel expectations. Funding is available for travel expectations as needed, so don’t let that deter you from applying!
- President: Directs and supports all officers or agents of BULAC.
- VP of Communications: Maintains/Manages all forms of social media, including BULAC’s website and Hivebrite (among other things).
- VP of Finance & Development: Serves as the BULAC representative in the Brown Annual Fund and manages BULAC budget.
- VP of Campus Programs: Coordinates campus events and activities and serves as the primary leader of the annual BULAC Matriculation Campaign for admitted students (among other things).
- VP of Regional Engagement: Leads regional engagement strategy, serving as the coordinator and resource for regional representatives.
- Pre-Brown Experience Committee Chair: Serves as a leader of the BULAC Matriculations Campaigns and BULAC representative for virtual admissions events.
- Regional Representatives: host community building events within their regions and represent their chapter’s interests and needs at the national level.
President
- Shall be the chief executive officer of BULAC and shall preside over all membership meetings of BULAC and all meetings of the Board.
- Plan and publish an agenda for each meeting of the Board.
- Direct and support all officers or agents of BULAC.
- See that all programs and activities of the organization are carried out within the limits of its resources and according to standards prescribed by the Board.
- Report periodically to the Board and membership on the management of all affairs of the organization, and be the principal liaison with Brown University.
- Appoint, upon the advice and consent of the Board, at least 3 additional Board members from the membership.
- Encourage representation and participation of all geographic regions and Latino groups.
- Serve as the Affinity Group BULAC Officer on the BAA Board
Time and Travel Expectations:
- Monthly time commitment of ~6 hours
- Requires 3-4 annual trips to Campus for BAA Board meetings and Reunion Weekend events to represent BULAC
VP of Communications
- Prepare, publish, distribute and keep the minutes of all meetings of BULAC and meetings of the Board
- Send notices of all meetings to the Board and the membership
- Maintain all official membership records and archives of BULAC
- Accept, distribute and document all proposed changes to the Constitution and Bylaws
- Represent BULAC, as directed by the Board, on other University alumni organizations affiliated with the Brown Alumni Association
- Coordinate all meetings, be they in person or otherwise
- Maintain/Manage all forms of social media, including BULAC’s website and Hivebrite
- Perform such other duties as the President or the Board may from time to time direct.
Time and Travel Expectations:
- Monthly time commitment of ~4 hours
- Requires 1 trip to Campus for BULAC Retreat during 2yr term
VP of Finance & Development
- Monitor all expenditures according to the budgets approved by the Board
- Make fundraising a primary responsibility and be responsible for proposing for Board approval, implementing and reporting on goals and programs of fundraising for BULAC
- Prepare for approval by the Board drafts of budgets, projections and financial statements
- Perform such other duties as the President or the Board may from time to time direct.
- Serve as the BULAC representative in the Brown Annual Fund
Time and Travel Expectations:
- Monthly time commitment of ~4 hours
- Requires 1 trip to Campus for BULAC Retreat during 2yr term
- Optional trips to represent BULAC at scholarship fundraising events
VP of Campus Programs
- Coordinate campus events and activities encouraging networking among Latino alumni and current Brown students
- Serve as BULAC’s campus liaison by communicating with Alumni Relations, Providence-based BULAC members as well as current students
- Be responsible for determining, prioritizing and acting upon interests of Latino alumni
- Performing such other duties as the President or Board may direct from time to time.
- Serve as the primary leader of the annual BULAC Matriculation Campaign for admitted students
- Serve as the BULAC liaison to the Latinx Student Initiative Coordinators at the BCSC in the planning and execution of the Latinx Commencement Celebration
Time and Travel Expectations:
- Monthly time commitment of ~4 hours
- Requires at least 1 trip to Campus to represent BULAC at Reunion Weekend events and take part in BULAC Retreat during 2yr term
VP of Regional Engagement
- Outline and lead the strategy for membership events and activities in designated regions encouraging networking among Latino alumni
- Serve as the coordinator and resource for regional representatives
- Be responsible for determining, prioritizing and acting upon interests of Latino alumni
- Performing such other duties as the President or Board may direct from time to time
- Be a liaison among affinity groups and Brown Club regional leaders for cross-collaborations
- Organize nationwide virtual events that engage and act upon the interest of Latino alumni
Time and Travel Expectations:
- Monthly time commitment of ~4 hours
- Requires at least 1 trip to Campus to represent BULAC at Reunion Weekend events and take part in BULAC Retreat during 2yr term
Regional Representative
BULAC Reps are at the forefront of our Brown Latino Alumni community. Representatives host community building events within their regions and represent their chapter’s interests and needs at the national level.
Our main regions are Boston, Chicago, DC, Los Angeles, & Miami, but we are open to adding new regions. Apply to be a part of our BULAC familia!
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and hosting 2 events per year
- Participating in quarterly calls with the Executive Board
- Maintain contact with the VP of Regional Engagement on new chapter activities
Pre-Brown Experience Committee Chair
- Go to panelist for any Admissions related events in the Fall
- Serve as a leader of the BULAC Matriculations Campaign, specifically in understanding and executing the matching process for one-on-one engagement
